Pronghorns set to clash with Cougars in Calgary

LETHBRIDGE – Coming off a two week hiatus from Canada West action, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team returns to competition this weekend, traveling to Calgary to face the Mount Royal Cougars.
 
The Pronghorns and Cougars hit the hardwood at Kenyon Court on Mount Royal campus Friday night at 8:00pm and Saturday night at 6:00pm. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
 
In their last 10 match-ups with the Cougars, the Pronghorn are 8-2 and swept the season series during the 2091-20 Canada West season.
 
A look at the teams
 
Prior to the two week break from conference play, the Pronghorns (1-3) faced ranked opponents in both weekend sets. After splitting the opening series in a pair of one point games with the Calgary Dinos, the Pronghorns were swept by the U SPORTS second ranked Alberta Golden Bears.
 
In four games this weekend, the Pronghorns are averaging 73 points per game, while allowing 79.8 points against.
 
Facing his former team this weekend, Mount Royal transfer Moreau Darlington leads the Pronghorns in scoring with 14.5 points per game, while senior forward Chad Oviatt is averaging 12 points per game and sits third in Canada West rebounding with 9.8 boards per game.
 
The Cougars (2-2) were swept by the Golden Bears in their last action after opening the season with two convincing wins over the MacEwan Griffins.
 
Through four games, the Cougars are ranked fourth in Canada West offensively, scoring 84.5 points per game. Defensively, the Cougars sit 11th allowing 78 points against per game.
 
The Cougars offence is led by Nate Petrone (16.5 ppg) and Dylan Lutes (13.8 ppg).
