LETHBRIDGE – Coming off the opening weekend of the Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team heads out on the road, traveling to Edmonton to take on the Alberta Pandas in a pair of games at the Saville Community Sports Centre.

The Pronghorns and Pandas will square off Friday night at 6:00 pm and Friday at 5:00 pm. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

In the previous two seasons, the Pronghorns are 3-1 versus the Pandas.

A look at the teams

The Pronghorns (0-2) had a tough opening weekend versus the Calgary Dinos, dropping both games on home court but will look to rebound this weekend against a team that they have had recent success against.

Second-year guard Savannah McMahon had a strong opening weekend offensively, leading the team in scoring both nights and setting a new Pronghorn career high in points in a game with 20 on Saturday night.

This weekend is the season opener for the Pandas and enter the new season ranked sixth in the Canada West preseason coaches' poll.

During the 2019-20 Canada West season the Pandas went 16-4 to finish fourth in the conference and ended up losing in the Canada West final to the eventual U SPORTS Champion Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Pandas graduated 2019-20 leading scorer and rebounder Vanessa Wild but will rely heavily on Emma Kay this season. Kay led the Pandas in scoring during the 2018-19 season and was named a Canada West Second Team All-Star but had an injury plagued 2019-20 season.
