LETHBRIDGE – Hosting their final weekend series of the Canada West regular season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team is set to battle for top spot in the Central Division with the Alberta Pandas.
The Pronghorns and Pandas will square off Friday night at 6:00pm and Saturday night at 5:00pm. Both games will also be streamed live on
www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
Following the new provincial guidelines, guests on University of Lethbridge campus will not have to provide proof of vaccine. However, masking is still required at all times on campus.
A look at the teams:
The Pronghorns (10-4) and Pandas (10-2) enter the weekend tied for wins atop the Central Division standings but the Pandas have two games in hand. The Pandas will face the Calgary Dinos next weekend, making up games that were postponed earlier in 2022.
During the second weekend of the season, the Pandas swept the Pronghorns in Edmonton, but the Pronghorns have not lost a game since, rattling off 10 straight wins.
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Pronghorns hold the sixth ranked offence, scoring 71.1 points per game. The Pronghorn are also ranked eighth defensively allowing 65.6 points against.
Guard Jessica Haenni leds the Pronghorns in scoring with 15.5 points per game, while Haily Weaver and Savannah McMahon are averaging 10.9 and 10 points per game respectively.
The Pandas come to town as the third ranked offensive and defensive team in Canada West. The Pandas score 75.4 points per game, while allowing 59.8 points against. The Pandas have also attempted the most free throws in the conference, averaging 22 a game.
Emma Kary leads the Pandas offensively with 15.5 points per game. Brianna Fehr and Mackenzie Cook are chipping in with 13.2 and 10.3 points per game respectively.
