LETHBRIDGE – With only two weekends remaining in the Canada West regular season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's basketball team heads to Calgary to face the Calgary Dinos with second place in the Central Division on the line.

The Pronghorns are currently one game ahead of Calgary for second place but, during the opening weekend of the 2021-22 season, the Dinos swept the Pronghorns in Lethbridge.

The Pronghorns and Dinos will square off at Jack Simpson Gymnasium in Calgary Friday night at 6:00 pm and Saturday night at 5:00 pm. Catch all the action www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

A look at the teams

Heading into the final two weekends of the regular season, the Pronghorns (8-4) are the hottest team in the conference, riding an eight game winning streak, including a road sweep of MacEwan last weekend.

The Pronghorns hold the sixth best offence in the conference this season, scoring 71.2 points per game, while sitting seventh defensively, allowing 65.1 points per game.

Guard Jessica Haenni continues to lead the Pronghorns in scoring this season, averaging 13.9 points per games. Haily Weaver and Savannah McMahon are also averaging double digits in points this season with 11.2 and 10.9 respectively.

For the Dinos (7-5) the start of the 2022 portion of the schedule has been anything but consistent. After sweeping the MRU Cougars to open the New Year, the Dinos had their series with the Alberta Pandas postponed and have split their last two weekend series with MacEwan and Mount Royal.

Statistically, the Dinos sit near the bottom in team offence, ranked 12th out of 17 teams, averaging only 63.5 points per game. However, the team ranks fourth defensively, only allowing 59.5 points against.

First-year guard Annacy Palmer is the lone Dino player to average double digits in points this season. She leads the team with 13.3 points per game.
