SASKATOON – Hitting the pitch for the first time under new bench boss Davin Haigh, the Lethbridge Pronghorns were on the wrong end of the result, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon.
Eager to get the new season underway, the Pronghorns had to endure a nearly two hour weather delay after severe weather delayed the Huskies women's soccer game that was contested prior to the men's game that was originally scheduled for 7:30 pm but didn't start until after 9:00 PM.
Three stunning strikes from the Huskies were the difference in a late Saturday night matchup against the Lethbridge Pronghorns, as the Huskies picked up the first win of their season.
KB Bekwayo opened the Huskie campaign in style with a screamer from the edge of the box at the 29-minute mark of the game.

Saturday's game started nearly two hours after its initial 7:30 kick-off, due to severe weather impacting the women's soccer game earlier in the evening.
Jaron Slopinski made his debut in net for the Huskies. The Regina, SK-product made the most of his opportunity, walking off the pitch with his first U SPORTS clean sheet.
First-year Pronghorn Tegan Romaine made his first career U SPORTS start for Lethbridge and made four saves.
On the night, the Huskies stifled the Pronghorn attack, only allowing three shot attempts.
The Pronghorns return home to host the 2022 home opening weekend starting next Friday night, hosting the MacEwan Griffins. Sunday afternoon the Pronghorn will face the Alberta Golden Bears.
