POST GAME
LETHBRIDGE - The Pronghorns' first game at home was met with blistering anticipation for the start of another exciting Canada West season. Fans packed into the University of Lethbridge Centre for Sport and Wellness to witness veterans Tobore Okome and team captain Kyra Collier mix it up with rookie talents like Paisley Sillito, who made her debut during the first home game. The Regina Cougars came to town, led by their captain, fourth-year player Jade Belmore, and supported by emerging talent Josie Valley. The Horns fought their way through the Cougars, utilizing their star power, with Collier and Okome combining for 30 points en route to their first home win of the season!

Q1
- Regina looked to establish their play early by focusing their scoring from the perimeter, finishing four for six from beyond the arc, with most of the Cougars' offense running through their backcourt.
- The Pronghorns used their experience to keep the Cougars on their toes, with veteran players Kyra Collier and Tobore Okome instrumental in the Horns' offense early on.
Q2
- The Horns swarmed the Cougars early in the second quarter, earning their first lead of the game after 15 minutes of play. Kamryn Deklerk highlighted their effort with an ankle breaker on a Cougars defender, finishing the half with 18 points and showcasing exquisite ball handling.
- The Cougars rallied with strong defensive efforts, utilizing an ironclad full-court press to make the Horns earn every point after Lethbridge's offensive onslaught that started the second quarter.
- The first half concluded with a combined 85 points scored and 15 fouls, featuring end-to-end scoring and a general disregard for discipline. The University of Regina's game plan was evident, as they made exactly half of their three-point attempts (6 of 12).
- However, Lethbridge's tight pressure gave the Horns the edge in rebounds (21 to Regina's 16) and steals (6 to Regina's 2), leaving the Horns with a one-point lead after 20 minutes.
Q3
- The early moments of the quarter were continuously interrupted by fouls committed by both teams, but Regina kept their guard up by limiting their miscues. A layup by Jade Belmore as time expired in the third brought the game within four points.
- The Cougars' offense was defined by Belmore's scoring ability, complemented by well-defined backcourt contributions, while the Pronghorns began the final frame negotiating the foul trouble that had started in the previous quarter.
Q4
- Early in the fourth, the Pronghorns attempted a more conservative approach, using all 24 seconds on the shot clock to prevent a late Cougars resurgence. However, the Horns' discipline still left something to be desired.
- A huge three-pointer by Piper Dobbelsteyn put the Horns ahead by 10 with just two minutes left to play.
- Lethbridge imposed themselves over the Cougars by the end of the game, cutting down the Cougars' three-point percentage to 26% after they had finished the first half making half of their attempts.
