Pronghorn Athletics Celebrates Academic Excellence: President’s Award and Team Academic Award Winners for 2023-24

LETHBRIDGE – University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Athletics is proud to announce the recipients of the prestigious President's Award for the 2023-24 academic year. This year, Pronghorn Athletics has the distinct honour of recognizing two outstanding student-athletes: Danielle Nadeau from Women's Basketball and Anneke De Klerk from Women's Soccer. The President's Award is one of the highest honours bestowed by Pronghorn Athletics, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest academic standing while competing full-time in varsity sports.
 
Danielle Nadeau, entering her fourth year with the Women's Basketball team, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science. Anneke De Klerk, a recent graduate from ULethbirdge completed a Bachelor of Science. Both student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, exemplifying the highest standards of academic excellence.
 
Spencer Pommells, Director of Pronghorn Athletics, praised the award recipients, stating, "Congratulations to both Dani and Anneke for their outstanding achievement as our President's Award winners for the top academic athletes in 2023-24. Both Dani and Anneke have represented everything it means to be a Pronghorn student-athlete over their time with us and to see them recognized with this award is both very fitting, and a glimpse into their bright futures."
 
In addition to the individual accolades, Pronghorn Athletics is thrilled to announce the Women's Basketball team as the recipient of the Team Academic Award for the highest overall team GPA. The team achieved an impressive 3.51 average GPA, reflecting the dedication and hard work of its members both on the court and in their studies.
 
"For a number of years, our Women's Basketball program has been a shining light within Pronghorn Athletics and the University of Lethbridge. To see that nine student-athletes within this program achieve Academic All-Canadian status is truly remarkable and a testament to the culture that has been developed by Dave Waknuk, his staff and every one of the student-athletes who have been a part of the program," added Pommells.
 
Pronghorn Athletics extends heartfelt congratulations to Danielle, Anneke, and all the student-athletes who have demonstrated such dedication to their academic and athletic pursuits. Their accomplishments are a source of pride for the entire University of Lethbridge community.
