Boell Strikes First, But Pronghorns Settle for 1-1 Draw With Heat

POST GAME
LETHBRIDGE – In a breezy matchup, the Pronghorns and UBCO Heat battled to a 1-1 draw in Lethbridge, with both teams pushing for a win. The Pronghorns came into the game following a scoreless draw against the Victoria Vikes, while the Heat sought redemption after a narrow 2-1 loss to the Calgary Dinos. The Horns took the lead early in the second half thanks to Kyle Boell's first goal, only for the Heat to equalize just ten minutes later. Despite several late chances, both teams were denied a decisive goal, as UBCO's Ronan Woodroffe delivered a standout performance in net. The result keeps the Horns' season balanced, with their record now standing at 2-2-5.

  • In the 39th minute, the Heat nearly broke through when first-year player Aidan Synnuck struck the post, but the Pronghorns managed to clear the danger.
  • Just before halftime, the Heat earned a free kick opportunity, but the shot missed the target, leaving the score locked at 0-0 heading into the break.
  • The Pronghorns took the lead 51 minutes in, as a corner kick from Karim Bey set up Kyle Boell for his first goal in Pronghorn colours.
  • Minutes later, UBCO responded with a chance from Spencer Mellett, but Armaan Thawer in net saw the ball sail wide.
  • The Heat equalized in the 61st minute when Jaise Shaw fired a strong strike from the right, with Rory Clement earning the assist on the play.
  • Simon Rolfson had a chance for the Horns on the left side, but Ronan Woodroffe came up big again to keep the game level.
  • The Horns pressed forward as Cole Rosenlund orchestrated a drive that linked Will Hughes with Kai Sakaguchi, but the Heat keeper held his ground.
  • Rolfson, the Horns' leading goal scorer, had another opportunity in the 80th minute but sent his shot high over the bar. Despite late pushes from both sides, neither could find a winner and the match ended in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
