Pronghorns Battle Bobcats in Competitive Weekend Series
The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns basketball programs hosted the Brandon Bobcats over the weekend at the Co-op Centre for Sport & Wellness, wrapping up two days of Canada West competition that featured close matchups and standout individual performances on both sides.
Women's Basketball
Lethbridge opened its home schedule Friday with an 84–77 victory over the Bobcats. The Pronghorns were led by Piper Dobbelsteyn, who scored a game-high 33 points, including four three-pointers, to pace a balanced Lethbridge offense. Mhari Mattuli and Courtney McKee also added 14 points apiece.Â
For Brandon, Macaya Copeland led the visitors with 29 points, and Piper Ingalls added 16. The Bobcats forced 19 turnovers but were unable to overcome Lethbridge's rebounding advantage.
On Saturday, Brandon responded with a 69–65 win to split the weekend series. Copeland again led the Bobcats with 20 points and five steals, while Ingalls chipped in 16 points and seven rebounds. Dobbelsteyn paced Lethbridge with 19 points, and Abby Stonehocker added 13.Â
Men's Basketball
In Friday's game, Brandon came away with an 85–77 win behind consistent perimeter shooting and a balanced attack. The Bobcats shot 46 percent from the floor and made 10 three-pointers, led by Darko Karac's 17 points. The Pronghorns were led by Kymani Pollard, who scored 23 points while going 8-for-18 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Lu Dalil earned 16 points and Karter Fry had 10.Â
Lethbridge closed the weekend with an 85–72 win on Saturday. Pollard once again led the Pronghorns, finishing with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Dalil added 16 and Bruce Solis scored 14. The Bobcats were led by Sultan Haider-Bhatti, who recorded 23 points and six rebounds, while Gill Munroop contributed 15 points.Â
