LETHBRIDGE – On a sunny but chilly Saturday afternoon at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium, the Pronghorns fell 2-0 to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Canada West women's soccer action.
Saskatchewan opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Daraida Sutherland found the back of the net. Pronghorns goalkeeper Heidi Andres got a hand on the attempt but was unable to keep it out.
The Huskies added a second goal in the 26th minute, with Cheyenne Lehmann finishing a pass from Jenna Steacy to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Lethbridge was more involved in the second half, working to contain Saskatchewan's attacking runs, but the Pronghorns were unable to generate enough offence to get back into the match. The Huskies were held off the scoresheet after the break, while Andres finished the contest with 14 saves.
The Pronghorns recorded six shots, including three on target, but were unable to beat Saskatchewan goalkeeper Alyssa Paydli, who recorded the shutout.
The result moves Lethbridge to 2-10-1 on the season, while Saskatchewan improves their record 7-3-3.
The teams will meet again Sunday at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium to close out the regular season.
