LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns are set to launch the 2026–27 season in style with the return of the Horns Triple Header Weekend, sponsored by Westco Construction Ltd. and taking place Sept. 18–19. Now in its fourth year, the marquee event continues to build momentum after drawing a record crowd of nearly 1,550 fans from across the university and southern Alberta community in 2025.
"At Westco Construction, we believe strong communities are built through strong partnerships. Supporting the University of Lethbridge Horns Triple Header Weekend reflects our commitment to investing in organizations that develop leadership, teamwork, and community pride. We are proud to support the Pronghorns and the positive impact they continue to make across Southern Alberta" said Taunya Pickles, Marketing and Communications Manager at Westco Construction Ltd.
Festivities begin Friday evening with the Pronghorn Gala, a fundraising event dedicated to celebrating and supporting varsity athletics through an engaging night of entertainment and connection. Last year's gala featured dinner, a lively duelling pianos performance and remarks from Olympian Kacie Bosch, setting the tone for a weekend that brings together alumni, supporters and student-athletes.
Action shifts to the Community Sports Stadium on Saturday, where fans can enjoy a full day of Pronghorn competition in a triple-header format. The women's soccer team opens the day at 2 p.m., followed by men's soccer at 4 p.m., with rugby closing out the night under the lights at 7 p.m. Opponents and a full event schedule, including vendors and activations, will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Building on last year's success, organizers are enhancing the game-day experience with an expanded vendor lineup and additional entertainment designed to create a vibrant, festival-like atmosphere for fans of all ages.
"The Horns Triple Header Weekend is more than just a season opener, it's a celebration of who we are as an institution and a community," said Neil Langevin, Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Services. "It brings together our student-athletes, alumni, fans and local partners in a way that strengthens pride, builds connection and showcases the energy of Pronghorn Athletics. Events like this play a vital role in creating meaningful experiences on campus while reinforcing our impact across southern Alberta."
The department is also inviting community partners to be part of the weekend, with sponsorship opportunities available for businesses looking to support Pronghorn Athletics while gaining exposure throughout the event.
"The Horns Triple Header is the kind of event that brings you back—not just to the games, but to the people and moments that made your time on campus special," said Cyndi Crane, President of
the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (BMus '95, MEd '01). "We're excited to welcome alumni back to reconnect and be part of the atmosphere together."
