Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 12, 2017.

Female Athlete of the Week:
Lara Roth – Women’s Track

Fourth-year thrower Lara Roth was the lone female Pronghorn to qualify for the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships and entered the weight throw event ranked 11th and was looking at a long shot to hit the podium but walked away from the meet with an excellent performance.

The Brooks, Alberta product was the first of the six Pronghorns to compete and while she didn’t reach the podium, Roth moved up two spots and finished ninth. She also set a new personal best with her furthest toss of 14.99 metres.

On the season, Roth won two Canada West medals with a silver in the weight throw and a bronze in the shot put in Regina and sets herself up for a successful senior season next year.

Male Athlete of the Week:
Peter Millman – Men’s Track

Prior to the final university track meet of his career, Lethbridge Pronghorn fifth-year thrower Peter Millman was named the U SPORTS Male Field Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row and added to his award haul, being named Student-Athlete Community Service Award winner for the first time in his career.

After qualifying for the weight throw event in each of his five years, Millman finally reached the podium Friday, taking home a bronze medal. His furthest throw of 18.82 metres was a season best and just three centimetres short of his personal best.

In the final event of his Pronghorn career, the Truro, N.S. product took home his third consecutive national gold medal in the shot put with a toss of 17.25 metres.

He was also named the Canada West Male First Star of the Week.

Millman concluded his Pronghorn career with four national medals, nine Canada West gold medals, two national Field Athlete of the Year awards and as a four-time Canada West Field Athlete of the Year.
