Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 3, 2017.
 
Male Athlete of the Week:
Garret Hughson – Men’s Hockey
 
Second-year goaltender Garret Hughson backstopped the Pronghorn men’s hockey team to a four point weekend over the Calgary Dinos this past weekend, turning aside 75 of the 79 shots he faced.
 
Friday night, Hughson stopped 46 of 47 Dino shots in the Pronghorns 4-1 win in the front half of a home-and-home series with the Dinos.
 
The next night in Calgary, the Foremost, Alberta product made another 29 saves, as the injury depleted Pronghorns rallied from three goals down to earn the sweep of the Dinos with a 4-3 win in overtime.
 
Hughson started the last six games for the Pronghorns, winning five and leading the Pronghorns back into the playoff picture. He has been the goalie of record for all six of the Pronghorn wins this season and sports a 3.43 goals against-average, with a 0.907 save percentage.
 
Hughson and his Pronghorn teammates head into the semester break tied for fifth in Canada West. The Pronghorns will return to Canada West action January 5th and 6th, when they host the Saskatchewan Huskies.
 
 
 
 
Female Athlete of the Week:
Kacie Bosch – Women’s Basketball
 
 
Leading her team to the best first semester in program’s history, local product Kacie Bosch led the Pronghorn women’s basketball team to their fifth weekend sweep of the season. This past weekend versus the Fraser Valley Cascades, Bosch combined for 42 points, 12 rebounds, six steals and five assists in the Pronghorns two wins over the Cascades.
 
Friday night, Bosch scored a game high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists in the Pronghorns 75-56 win.
 
She followed up that performance with 23 points to lead all scorers again Saturday night in an 82-74 win. She also recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
 
On the season, the former Gonzaga Bulldog leads the Pronghorns in scoring with 13.4 points per game. She also averages 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
 
Bosch and the Pronghorns enter the semester break as the lone 10 win team in Canada West, sitting at 10-2. The Pronghorns will return to conference action January 5th and 6th, traveling to Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Bisons.
