Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2018.
 
Male Athlete of the Week:
Zac Overwater – Men’s Basketball
 
Fourth-year forward Zac Overwater combined for 64 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks and a career performance to help the Lethbridge Pronghorns to a weekend split with the U SPORTS fourth ranked UBC Thunderbirds. He was also named Canada West first star of the week.
 
Friday night, the Didsbury, Alberta native picked up 15 points, five rebounds, plus an assist, steal and block in Lethbridge’s 84-71 loss to the Thunderbirds.
 
The next night, Overwater truly had a special performance, setting a new school record for points in a game and leading the Pronghorns to a 106-101 overtime win over the fourth ranked T-Birds. His 49 points broke the program’s mark of 43 points that was shared by Perry Mirkovich, Al Chapple and Danny Balderson.
 
Overwater completed the double-double, grabbing 12 rebounds and also added four assists, three steals and a block in the win.
 
On the season, Overwater sits second on the Pronghorns in scoring, averaging 17.6 points per game to go along with 7.3 rebounds.
 
The Pronghorns will enjoy their bye week this week and return to action Thursday, January 25th to host provincial rival Calgary Dinos.
 
 
 
 
Female Athlete of the Week:
Amy Mazutinec – Women’s Basketball
 
First-year wing Amy Mazutinec continued her strong rookie season for the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s basketball team, combining for 25 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and three blocks in the Pronghorns two losses to the UBC Thunderbirds this past weekend.
 
Friday night, the Stirling, Alberta product recorded her third double-double of the season in the Pronghorns heartbreaking 65-63 loss to the T-Birds. Mazutinec picked up 14 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting, including hit both of her three-point attempts. She picked up 10 rebounds to complete the double-double, to go along with one steal and two blocks.
 
In the weekend finale, Mazutinec scored a team high 11 points and snagged another five rebounds, two steals and a block in the Pronghorns 76-65 loss.
 
On the season, Mazutinec is averaging 8.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
 
The Pronghorns have a bye this week, but will return Thursday, January 25th to host the 9-5 Calgary Dinos.
