Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 6, 2019.

Male Athlete of the Week:
Zac Overwater – Men’s Basketball

Returning from semester break and mired in a six game losing streak, fifth-year guard Zac Overwater recorded back to back double doubles to lead his Lethbridge Pronghorns to a road sweep of the Saskatchewan Huskies. The sweep was the first time the Pronghorns had swept the Huskies in Saskatoon since 1998.

Zac was also named the Canada West Male Second Star of the Week.

In the weekend opener, Overwater led all scorers with 32 points on an efficient 13 for 19 shooting, while grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with three assists, three blocks and two assists in a 97-89 win over the Huskies.

The next night, the new media student poured in 25 points to lead the Pronghorns to a 98-73 win. He completed the double-double, grabbing another 10 rebounds.

On the season, Overwater leads the Pronghorns in both points and rebounds averaging 18.3 point and 7.9 rebounds.

Overwater and his Pronghorn teammates will take on the Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home series this weekend, beginning Thursday night in Calgary.

Female Athlete of the Week:

Alicia Anderson – Women’s Hockey

In her team’s first action of the second semester, fourth-year goaltender Alicia Anderson stopped 40 of the 43 shots she faced to lead the Pronghorn women’s hockey team to a road spilt with the Regina Cougars in Regina.

Friday night, the Bachelor of Science student was perfect in goal, stopping all 27 shots she faced to backstop the Pronghorns to a 1-0 win. The shutout was Anderson’s fifth of the season, which is tied for the conference lead.

In the series finale, Anderson made another 23 saves, as the Pronghorns comeback fell just short, dropping a close 3-2 decision to the Cougars.

On the season, Anderson holds a 1.90 goals-against average and a 0.943 save percentage, while leading Canada West in total saves with 494.

The Pronghorns women’s hockey team will take on the Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series this coming weekend, starting Friday night at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
