Female Athlete of the Week:
Lauren Taal – Women’s Basketball
Senior guard Lauren Taal led the way as the ‘Horns ended their losing streak in a big way, sweeping the visiting Manitoba Bisons this past weekend. Taal combined for 26 points and 11 assists while also setting a new Canada West single game record for steals in the series finale.
Friday night, Taal had a game high 17 points to lead the ‘Horns to their first win of 2012, 83-74 over the Bisons. She also added five rebounds and five assists in the victory. The next night, Taal put on a remarkable performance recording 13 steals to set a new CW single game record in the series sweeping victory, 94-75. Lauren also scoring nine points, while adding another six assists.
On the season, Taal leads the ‘Horns in scoring with 11.9 points per game and is sixth in the conference in assists, averaging 4.3 assists per game.
