Male Athlete of the Week:
Alasdair Coyle – Men’s Soccer
Heading out on the road for the first time this season, and despite dropping both games to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon, the third-year midfielder had a strong attacking presence in both games.
Through three games this season, Coyle leads the Pronghorns with six shot attempts, with four on goal.
The Pronghorn men’s soccer team will get another chance to hit the win column this weekend in a home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos. The Pronghorns host the series opener Saturday at 2:15 at the University Community Stadium. Game two goes in Calgary Sunday afternoon.
Female Athlete of the Week:
Sara Cline – Women’s Rugby
Looking to build on a season opening win, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s Rugby team lost a hard fought 12-6 decision to the Calgary Dinos in Calgary on Friday.
Fifth-year forward Sara Cline was solid on both sides of the ball in the loss, with strong penetrating runs on offense and hard nose tackling on the defensive side of the ball.
Cline and the rest of her Pronghorn teammates will head to Edmonton this weekend to face the Alberta Pandas in game two of the Suggitt Cup. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 pm in Edmonton on Saturday.
