Female Athlete of the Week:
Kim Veldman – Women’s Basketball
During a weekend series split versus two Pacific Division teams at home, third-year post Kim Veldman combined to score 20 points and added 22 rebounds, coming one point short of recording double-doubles in both games.
Friday night, Veldman scored nine points on 4 of 5 shooting from the field and was tied for a game high 11 rebounds in the ‘Horns 76-63 loss versus the Trinity Western Spartans. In the weekend finale, Veldman registered her third double-double of the season, as the ‘Horns knocked off the CIS top ranked Fraser Valley Cascades, 64-59. She scored 11 points and recorded another 11 rebounds in the victory.
Through 14 games this season, Veldman sits second on the ‘Horns in scoring, averaging 11.9 points per contest and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.7 boards a night.
