Box Score  Lethbridge – The University of Regina Cougars completed the weekend sweep of the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, earning a 5-2 victory, Saturday night, at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

After falling behind 2-0 early, the 'Horns battled back to notch the game at two, but could not sustain any momentum into the final frame and the Cougars completed the weekend sweep with a three goal out burst in the third period

Lethbridge goals were scored by Cass Mappin and Chase Schaeber. Tyler Henry notched two for the Cougars, while Troy Hunter, Brayden Nargang, and Matt Strueby each added one.

Starting in net for the Pronghorns was Dylan Tait, who faced 43 shots on the night. Lucas Gore started in net for Regina, turning aside 24 of 26 shots.

The Cougars drew first blood only thirty three seconds in, as Strueby, alone in front of the net, took a short feed from Henry and fired a wrister top shelf, past an unsuspecting Tait.

Capitalizing on a loose rebound, Henry's hard angle shot widened the gap to two, as he chipped the puck past the Lethbridge netminder.

Mappin responded for the 'Horns, taking a hard pass from Machacek, toe dragging through the slot, and finding the back of the net at 12:24.

With both teams trading penalties throughout the second frame, each team sought to make the most with the man advantage. Persistence paid off for the home team, as freshman Hayden Rintoul out waited the defense and found Shaeber beside the net, whose shot was too quick for Gore's glove, knotting the game back at two's.

Late in the frame, Brent Henke's breakaway attempt was skillfully denied by Gore, who flashed his pad at the very last second, kicking the puck out of harms way.

Both teams were desperately seeking a go-ahead goal in the third period. Capitalizing on not one, but two great chances, the Cougars broke the deadlocked tie at 5:51, as Murray's solid effort helped re-establish their lead and less than a minute later, Hunter's well placed stick batted in a floating puck past the keeper to widen the gap, once again.

Henry would add his second of the night, a shorthanded empty-netter, in the final minute of play.

With this loss, the Pronghorns fall to 0-3-1, while the Cougars improve to 3-1-0. Next weekend the Pronghorns travel to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds and the Cougars will return home to host the Calgary Dinos.
