LETHBRIDGE – Coming off his final game as a Lethbridge Pronghorn, fourth-year defenceman Evan Wardley is turning to pro hockey, signing a Standard Player Contract (SPC) with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.
In his four seasons with the Pronghorns, the Vulcan, Alberta product skated in 91 career games, including 24 of 28 this season. Over his career, he accumulated six goals and 13 assists but evolved into an outstanding defensive defenceman that was counted on for his physical presence and ability on the penalty kill.
Prior to joining the Pronghorns, Wardley spent part of the 2015-16 season with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL, collecting a goal and three assists in nine games.
Wardley also played four years in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds, skating in 208 career WHL games.
The Steelheads currently sit tied for second place in the Mountain Division with 61 points and have 22 games remaining in the regular season.
