Lethbridge – Coming off their first win of the season last weekend, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s hockey team (1-9-2 CW) heads out on the road this week to face the CIS fourth ranked Saskatchewan Huskies (9-3-0 CW) at Rutherford Arena in Saskatoon.

After putting an end to their season long losing streak Friday night, the ‘Horns finished the weekend earning three of a possible four points with an overtime loss in Calgary Saturday night versus the Mount Royal Cougars.

For the Huskies, it was an up and down weekend in Calgary last week. The Dinos blasted the Huskies 8-0 Friday night, but the Huskies then rebounded with a 5-4 come from behind victory the next night to earn the weekend split.

A balanced attack has led the Huskies to their second place position as the season moves to the mid-way point, with no players scoring more than four goals but nine players on the roster have at least two goals. Kyle Bortis leads the way with three goals and a team best 13 assists.

Between the pipes, Ryan Holfeld has started all 12 games for the Huskies and is sixth in the conference with a 2.80 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage.

For the ‘Horns, freshman Chase Schaber continues to lead the team offensively with five goals and eight assists and is the top scoring freshmen in the conference. While still the lowest scoring team in the conference the ‘Horns finally got some secondary scoring last weekend with Brent Henke notching his first two goals of the season and Captain Dan Iwanski ending a nine-game goalless drought last Friday.

Second-year goaltender Dylan Tait started consecutive games for the first time this season and saw his save percentage jump above the 0.900 mark after stopping 76 of 82 shots last weekend.

Puck drops both Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm in Saskatoon and live stats can be found at http://www.leaguestat.com/canadawest/mens/en/stats/schedule.php?season_id=22.
