POWER PLAY GOALS LIFT HUSKIES OVER PRONGHORNS

Saskatoon - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies scored four times on the power play en route to a 7-0 win over the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Saturday night in Saskatoon's Rutherford Rink.

Saskatchewan (4-4) gets back to .500 for the season with the weekend sweep. Lethbridge (0-6) remains winless with the loss. A night earlier, the Huskies won 5-2.

Saskatchewan went 4-for-8 with the man advantage and added a penalty shot goal in the win.

Ryan McDonald got the power play scoring started firing a slapshot five-hole on Pronghorn's goalie Damien Ketlo 2:18 into the contest for his first goal of the season.

Sean Aschim potted his first Canada West goal at 7:51 of the first period on a penalty shot. Aschim gave a quick shot fake before dragging the puck around Ketlo and roofing a backhand shot.

Ryan Holfeld made 24 saves to earn his second shutout in three games for the Huskies.

Lethbridge's best chance to score came midway through the second period on the penalty kill. The Pronghorns raced up ice after corralling a wild ricochet off the glass in their own end and went in 2-on-1 on Holfeld. The Saskatchewan goalie made one sprawling save and cleared away any chance of a rebound.

The Huskies would immediately break out of their own end, after the Holfeld save, on a rush of their own. A nice from Charles Inglis led to a backhand goal by Jesse Ross on the power play at 12:15.

Brennan Bosch scored his third of the season at 15:17 of the second period before Andrew Bailey added a power play goal at 18:37 to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead heading into the final period.

Josh Roach scored on a breakaway 1:21 into the third period for the Huskies' sixth goal. McDonald closed out the scoring with his second power play goal of the game at 10:04.

Ketlo made 20 saves in two periods for the Pronghorns, while Dylan Tait came in for the third period and made two stops.

Saskatchewan travels to Calgary next weekend to take on the Dinos after playing four straight games at home. Lethbridge remains on the road, travelling to Vancouver to meet the UBC Thunderbirds.
