Lethbridge – A night after upending the third ranked Alberta Golden Bears, a cold shooting performance spelled the end of the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team's seven game winning streak with a 84-67 loss to the Golden Bears.

Jordan Baker led the way for the Bears, scoring 12 of his team high 14 points in the opening quarter.  Robert Dewar and Rav Dhaliwal were the only other Bears to hit double-digits with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Coming off a 32-point performance last night, 'Horns forward Brandon Brine led all scorers again with 18 points, while Logan Reiter chipped in with 10 of his own.  Junior college transfer Brent Watkins had a solid night coming off the bench and contributing with a 10 point, nine rebound performance.

On the heels of their second loss of the season, the Golden Bears came flying out of the gate, opening with a 9-0 run, and were scorching hot in the first quarter.  The Bears shot 12 for 19 from the field, including four from beyond the arc, en route to a 32-point quarter and a 21-point advantage after one.

A streaky shooting team at the best of times, the 'Horns had a dismal opening quarter shooting four for 15, including six straight misses from behind the arc.

While the Bears production dipped in the second quarter to 19 points, they continued to pull away from the 'Horns and built a 30 point lead, 51-21 at the half. The 'Horns continued their poor shooting night and finished the half with only nine made field goals.

Despite winning both of the quarters in the second half, largely due to the Bears cooling off after shooting an amazing 60% in the first half, the hole was too deep and the 'Horns never truly threatened the outcome of tonight's contest.

With the loss the 'Horns fall to 10-4 on the season, one game behind the Saskatchewan Huskies for second place in the Prairie Division after the Huskies completed the sweep of the Calgary Dinos tonight. The win improves the Bear to 12-2, good enough for top spot in the division and the best record in the conference.

The 'Horns will attempt to gain some ground on the Huskies next weekend, traveling to Saskatoon for a pair of games. The Bears will return home to host another provincial rival in the Calgary Dinos.
