Lethbridge – The Lethbridge Pronghorn men's hockey team homestand continues this Friday night in the front half of a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars.

The 'Horns and Cougars will hit the Nicholas Sheran ice Friday night at 7:00pm before concluding their season series Saturday night in Calgary at the Flames Community Arena, also at 7:00pm. Both games will be webcast on http://canadawest.tv.

During the current homestand, the 'Horns (3-9-0) have won three of four games, sweeping the Manitoba Bisons two weeks ago, before splitting their series this past weekend with the Regina Cougars. In the three wins, the 'Horns have held their opponent to three or fewer goals in each game, while scoring five goals for twice.

Sophomore Mitch Maxwell leads the team offensively with three goals and five assists, while senior forward Dan Iwanski sits second with seven points.

For the Cougars (7-5-0), the 2014-15 season has been an up-and-down affair. The Cougars opened the season with four straight wins, including sweeping the 'Horns during the opening weekend of the season, but have been 3-5-0 since that start.

In their last action, the Cougars split their weekend series with the Saskatchewan Huskies, winning 4-1 before dropping a 6-3 decision last Saturday night.

Second-year Cougar Cody Cartier sits third in the conference in points with six goals and 11 assists in 10 games and Tyler Fiddler is second on the Cougars in scoring with five goals and eight assists.

In the crease, Dalyn Flette has made nine appearances and is fifth in the conference in goals against average (2.05) and second in save percentage (0.938%).

Specialty teams have been a key to the Cougars success this season, they enter the weekend with the conference's best penalty killing unit (93.8%) and third best power play (20.6%). By comparison, while the numbers have improved in recent weekends, the 'Horns penalty killing is ranked eighth (75.0%) and the power play sits 6th (12.5%).

The 'Horns will skate on home ice for the last time during the first semester next weekend, hosting the Saskatchewan Huskies for a pair of games.
