Entering the New Year, the 'Horns (3-15-0) are 10 points out of the final playoff spot with 10 games to play and if the 'Horns have any hope of making a run at the final playoff spot, there is no margin for error starting with the first weekend.
The lowest scoring team in the conference, Ryon Moser leads the 'Horns in scoring with three goals and seven points, while the 'Horns lone member of Team Canada for the Winter Universiade Mitch Maxwell has nine points.
Brock Hirsche and NCAA transfer Brandon Clowes are tied the team lead in goals with five.
All four goaltenders on the 'Horns roster have seen action this season with Damien Ketlo and Warren Shymko seeing the most minutes, each making eight appearances. Kelto has a 4.12 goals-against-average and a 0.900 save percentage.
Following his transfer from Wilfred Laurier University this fall, power forward Greg Trichilo is now eligible after sitting out the first half to fulfill CIS transfer regulations and is available to being his Pronghorn career.
For the Huskies (8-9-1), the 2014-15 season has been uncharacteristically streaky. Usually a top team in the conference, the Huskies have had a rollercoaster ride this season, opening the year with four straight wins, before losing seven in a row. The Huskies then went on to win three in a row, but lost their last two games at home before the semester break.
Senior Craig McCallum leads the Huskies in scoring with five goals and 10 assists and Josh Roach sits second with 14 points. Former Lethbridge Hurricane and Huskie freshman Michael Sofillas leads the Huskies in goals with six.
Through 18 games this season, the Huskies have platooned the goaltending tandem of Ryan Holfeld and rookie Jordan Cooke. Both have made nine appearances and nearly have identical stats. Holfeld has a 2.18 goals-against-average and a 0.929 save percentage while Cooke sports a 2.20 GAA and 0.930 save percentage.
The 'Horns will remain on the road next week, traveling to Winnipeg to face the Manitoba Bisons before returning to Lethbridge for their first home games of 2015, hosting the Alberta Golden Bears, January 16
th and 17
th.
