‘Horns travel to Brandon with sights set on second place

Lethbridge – With only four games remaining in the Canada West regular season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball achieved their first goal last weekend, solidifying a spot in the post-season with a win over the UBC Thunderbirds; now their sights are set on a home playoff date.
 
Heading into the second last weekend of the season, the 'Horns (12-6) trail the Saskatchewan Huskies by two games for second place and that coveted home court in the first round of the Canada West playoffs, but the Huskies have a far more difficult schedule down the stretch.
 
This weekend, the Huskies travel to Winnipeg to face the 12-6 Winnipeg Wesmen, before closing out the regular season at the fourth ranked Alberta Golden Bears.
 
The 'Horns head out on the road this weekend traveling to Brandon to face the Brandon Bobcats for a pair of games before ending the conference schedule with a home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos.
 
Having lost five straight games, the Bobcats (5-13) we officially eliminated from post-season contention last Friday night when the 'Horns beat the Thunderbirds.
 
Friday and Saturday night's games are scheduled to tip-off at 8:00 and 7:00 pm CST respectively and both games will be streamed live on http://canadawest.tv.
 
A look at the teams statistically
 
Despite being held to their second lowest output last Saturday night in their loss to the Victoria Vikes, the 'Horns remain the second highest scoring team in the conference averaging 83.8 points per night. The 'Horns still lead the conference in free throw percentage (76.3%) and assists per game (18.7).
 
At the other end of the floor, the 'Horns are ranked 14th defensively, allowing 83 points against per contest.
 
The Bobcats enter the weekend with the 14th ranked offence (71.2ppg) and the 11th ranked defensive team, averaging 77.8 points against per game.
 
Players to watch
 
After a 43-point weekend, Logan Reiter moved up to seventh on the conference scoring list and is averaging 17.4 points per game this season. Brandon Brine, Morgan Duce and Alex Fletcher are all average double digits as well with 16.5, 12.7 and 11.7 points respectively.
 
The Bobcats also have four players averaging double-digit points per game with Kenonte Ramsey and Emerick Ravier leading the way with 13.4 points apiece.
