Edmonton - The 2015 Canada West Rugby Championship descends on the Ellerslie Rugby Park in Edmonton this weekend, as the Calgary Dinos look to keep their perfect season intact.
Calgary enters the weekend after capturing the regular season crown with a 4-0 regular season record, having scored at least four tries in every contest.
Calgary brings a host of weapons to the table, including Canada West leading scorer Elysa Sandron, who led the conference with 45 points this season, earning five tries (1st in CW) and 10 converts (2nd in CW).
The Dinos, who will face the Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday afternoon in semi-final action (1 PM MT), are looking to avenge last year's loss to the University of Alberta Pandas in the conference final and the pair are on a collision course yet again this year.
For the 'Horns, Friday will be a chance to get another crack at the Dinos, who beat the 'Horns in the final conference game 29-8, but it was a one score game at the half. Keys for the 'Horns will be at the skill positions and ball security. Frederique Tremblay and Nicole Ronsky led the 'Horns in tries with two each and Sarah Gordon had a try and five converts this season.
Alberta, who will take on the Victoria Vikes in the other semi-final on Friday (3 PM MT), suffered their lone loss of the season to Calgary in the conference opener 34-19 back on September 20th before finishing the season with three consecutive victories.
If the Dinos and Pandas do collide in the conference final, it would mark the fourth consecutive season the pair have met for the Canada West title, with Alberta emerging victorious in all three previous meetings.
