CALGARY- The University of Calgary Dinos looked to finish the weekend with two wins, downing the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 6-2 Saturday evening, Oct. 24th at the Markin MacPhail Center in Calgary.

Starting off on a quicker pace then yesterday's match-up between the two teams, Calgary got on the scoreboard early and made no signs of stopping putting 16 shots on Pronghorn goaltender Dylan Tait in the first period alone.

Mid-way through the first period on the power play Max Ross fed Spencer Edwards down low who buried the puck into the wide-open net, putting the Dinos up 1-0.

Just over a minute after the Dinos first goal Mike Winther walked out from behind the Pronghorns net to the top of the circle, firing a quick wrist shot past a screened Tait for Calgary's second goal of the period.

Lethbridge fought back and claimed their first goal of the game just forty seconds later. Off of a faceoff to the glove side of Dinos' goaltender Myles Hovdebo, Bryson Gore put the puck five-hole.

Looking to keep a two-goal lead, on the power play Cain Franson made a slap pass back door to Coda Gordon who redirected the puck high past Tait for his first goal of the season.

Early in the second period Calgary continued to have the scoring touch. Dylan Walchuk passed the puck to Edwards who made an immediate pass back to Walchuk to slide past Tait five-hole, ending his night. Lethbridge put in goaltender Damien Ketlo to finish out the evening.

Pronghorns continued to battle to close the scoring gap to two goals. Five minutes into the middle stanza on the power play Blake Orban hit Zane Jones with a stretch pass, catching the Dinos defenders out of position and beating Hovdebo high glove side.

Dinos netted two more goals in the third period to take the game 6-2. Edwards got his second goal of the evening putting in a rebound off of Franson's shot from the point.

Kevin King put in an empty net goal, Gordon and Danny Gayle picked up helpers on the goal to round out the scoring for the Dinos.

The Pronghorns will host a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal University Cougars on Oct. 30-31.

The Dinos will host the University of Manitoba Bisons next weekend (Oct. 30-31) at the Max Bell Arena in Calgary.
