Lethbridge – The Pronghorns Men's Basketball team returns home this weekend after splitting a weekend series on the road with the U of S Huskies. They won the first tilt, 86-74, and lost a heartbreaker 90-89 OT game to finish off the weekend.

They come home to the friendly confines of the 1st Choice Savings Centre, where they will go head-to-head with the U of M Bisons on Friday at 8:00pm and Saturday at 7:00pm. Both games are available on canadawest.tv.

The Bisons had a similar experience on the road last weekend against the UBC Thunderbirds, winning their first game 66-64, but dropping the second contest 76-66. They remain 4th in the Canada West Pioneer division, one up on the 'Horns.

With two wins and a weekend sweep, the 'Horns can leapfrog the Bisons and take 4th. With some help on the out of town scoreboard, they could end up in 3rd at weekend's end, should the Regina Cougars lose both games to 2nd place UBC.

The 'Horns and Bisons match up well. The 'Horns are hot at home, winning four games and not losing any. The Bisons play well on the road, and have a 4-2 road record to show for it.

The 'Horns outscore the Bisons, cashing in an average of 82.5 points per game to the Bisons' 79.8. The Bisons counter by out-rebounding the 'Horns by 4 more on average per game. Shooting percentages are too close to call. The 'Horns shoot 45.0% from the field, 36.4% from beyond the arch, and 69.6% from the free throw line. The Bisons drain 43.0% of their chances from the field, 32.6% of their 3-point attempts, and 66.5% of their free throw opportunities.

Both the Bisons and the Pronghorns are led by their experienced veterans. For the 'Horns, 5th year forward and Adelaide, Australia native Brandon Brine leads the offensive charge, netting 15.9 PPG and shooting 44.1% from the field, and 34.6% of his shots from behind the three-point line. He averages 6.2 rebounds per game, 4.4 of those being defensive rebounds. For the Bisons, AJ Basi, a Senior Guard leads the Bison attack, putting up 18.3 PPG, and shooting 39.9%. He nails 37.9% of his shots beyond the arch, and is stellar from the free throw line, putting away 89.3% of his chances. He averages 2.8 rebounds per game.

Next weekend, the 'Horns stay home and host the Alberta Golden Bears.
