'Horns push Huskies to overtime but lose

SASKATOON – In their first road trip of the season, the Lethbridge Pronghorns took the defending Canada West Champions and third ranked Saskatchewan Huskies to overtime, but didn't come away with two points, losing 3-2.
 
Jesse Forsberg tallied two goals to lead the to the weekend opening win. Forsberg netted the winner 3:31 into the five-minute overtime frame after keeping the puck in at the blue line. His quick shot slipped through the glove side of Pronghorns' goalie Garret Hughson.
 
With the win, Saskatchewan improves to 4-0-1 on the season. Lethbridge drops to 1-1-1.
 
Lethbridge's Justin Valentino opened the scoring on a power play at 9:41 in the first period. A quick pass across the crease shot into the net before Huskie netminder Jordon Cooke could slide over.
 
Michael Sofillas tied the game for the Huskies on a tic-tac-toe play at 17:10 of the first.
 
Valentino tallied his second of the night to give the Pronghorns a 2-1 lead at 13:53 when he was left alone at the side of the net once again. Forsberg notched the game at two at 11:55 in the third period on a quick shot from the slot.
 
Cooke finished the night making 33 saves including 16 in the first period, while Hughson stopped 30 at the other end of the ice.
 
The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Rutherford Rink. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
