Calgary - Leading 1-0 through 40 minutes of play, the Lethbridge Pronghorns couldn't hold off the Calgary Dinos, allowing two third period and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Dinos and were swept in the weekend home-and-home series.
Looking to even the series after a 5-3 loss Friday evening in Lethbridge, the Pronghorns converted on a power play late in the first period to take an early lead.
Torrin White fed Tim Campbell on the point for a one-timer that was deflected off of the leg of teammate Cory Millette, to open the scoring.
Both teams exchanged scoring chances in the second period. Calgary went 0 for 2 on the power play. On the Dinos second power play of the period, Pronghorns Mitchell Maxwell had a breakaway on a Dinos turnover, but couldn't convert as he shot wide of Dinos goaltender Matt Greenfield.
Calgary found its way onto the scoreboard just three minutes into the final stanza. After Walchuk had a goal disallowed for a high stick, seconds later, Elgin Pearce capitalized on a tic-tac-toe play tying the game up at one-a-piece. Drydn Dow and Walchuk had helpers on the goal.
The Dinos continued with their scoring touch two minutes later on the power play. Walchuk beat Pronghorns' goaltender Damien Ketlo on a cross-crease pass from Pearce. Braiden Doucette added an assist on the play.
Calgary nearly lost its lead with two back-to-back penalties late in the third, allowing Lethbridge a 5-on-3 power play. The Pronghorns couldn't beat Dinos' Greenfield to even the game up.
Lethbridge will travel to Vancouver next weekend to take on the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in a two game series, Nov.4-5th.
