A Look at the Teams

The bye week came at a good time for the Pronghorns (2-6-0) having lost four games in a row and dealing with numerous injuries. The Pronghorns will see a near full line up this weekend.

Speciality teams have been a sore spot for the Pronghorns through the first four weeks of Canada West play, ranked at the bottom of the conference. The power play is operating at only 7.4% success rate, while the penalty killing sits at a paltry 65.5%.

Through eight games, the Pronghorns have scored the fewest goals in Canada West with 14, while allowing 19 goals against.

The Bisons (2-6-0) also enter the weekend mired in a long losing streak having lost five straight games after splitting a weekend series with the defending U SPORTS Champion Alberta Golden Bears.

In eight games this season, the Bisons have allowed the most goals against in the conference, allowing 33 against and have scored the second fewest goals with 18.

Players to Watch

Goaltenders Garret Hughson and Taz Burman are both in the top 10 in save percentage. Despite a 2-4 record, Hughson has a 0.913 save percentage, while Burman, in three appearances, sits second in Canada West in save percentage at 0.932%.

Offensively, four players are tied for the team lead in points with four. Freshman Landon Gross leads the Pronghorns with three goals

For the Bisons, Brett Stovin and Nick Zajak lead the attack with six points each. Stovin also leads the team in goals with four, while Zajak has five assists.

In the crease, the Bisons have split duties between Byron Spriggs and Dasan Sydora. Both have won one game but both also have save percentages under 0.900
