Pronghorns wrap up sevens series in Victoria

LETHBRIDGE – Currently sitting in third place in the Canada West sevens series standings, the Lethbridge Pronghorns head to Victoria for the final stop of the 2018 sevens series.
 
After hitting a bump in the road during the second day of the Fraser Valley sevens stop, the Pronghorns will look to rebound in Victoria and finish the series on a positive note. Entering the final stop, the Pronghorns are six points back of series leading Victoria Vikes and trail the Calgary Dinos by two points for second.
 
On day one in Abbotsford, the Pronghorns went undefeated, winning all three games, but the next day was a different story as the 'Horns lost all three games and finished fourth.
 
The Pronghorns will open day one taking on the UBC Thunderbirds at 11:55 AM PST before facing the undefeated and series leading Victoria Vikes at 2:20 pm PST. In the final game of day one, the Pronghorns face the Fraser Valley Cascades.
 
To start day two, the Pronghorns face the two-time Canada West 15s Champion Calgary Dinos at 10:50 AM PST. In the final two games, the Pronghorns will take on the Alberta Pandas at 12:25 and the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at 2:00.
 
With the addition of Thompson Rivers to the Canada West Sevens Series, there will not be placement games and the round robin standings will determine the tournament placings.
 
To determine the overall Champion of the series, the following point system will be used for each tournament:

About the Canada West Women's Rugby Sevens Series
2018 marks the second season of the Canada West Women's Rugby Sevens Series, which has been made possible thanks to Canada West's partnership with B2ten and Rugby Canada. 

Through their joint support, which will include scholarship opportunities for players at all six competing institutions, B2ten and Rugby Canada are committed to helping Canadian female athletes pursue their athletic careers, including an opportunity to progress to the national team. 

The Canada West Women's Rugby Sevens Series champion will be crowned Feb. 25 at the University of Victoria, as determined by cumulative series points. 

2018 Canada West Women's Rugby Sevens Series tournament dates: University of Alberta (Jan. 20-21), University of the Fraser Valley (Feb. 10-11) and University of Victoria (Feb. 24-25).
