LETHBRIDGE – Attempting to solidify a playoff berth the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's hockey team hosts the conference leading and nationally third ranked Saskatchewan Huskies for a pair of games at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

A look at the teams
With eight games left in the Canada West season, the Pronghorns (7-11-2) sit in the final playoff spot in the conference, eight points ahead of the seventh place Manitoba Bisons and nine points ahead of the last place Regina Cougars. The Pronghorns also trail the UBC Thunderbirds by five points for fifth place.
The Huskies (17-3-0) lead the Alberta Golden Bears by a single point for top spot in the conference and enter the weekend on a two game winning streak after sweeping provincial rival Regina Cougars last weekend.
Statistically, the Huskies come to Lethbridge tied for top spot defensively, allowing only 41 goals this season and have scored the second most goals for with 82. The Pronghorns sit fifth in goals against, allowing 63 goals against in 20 games and are tied for fifth in goal scoring with 50.
Despite sitting atop of the Canada West standings, the Huskie are the most penalized team and have been shorthanded 100 times this season.
Earlier this season in Saskatoon, the Huskies swept the Pronghorns shutting them out both games and winning by scores of 5-0 and 4-0.
Players to watch
Despite going pointless last weekend, Justin Valentino remains among the top scorers in Canada West sitting in a tie for fifth in Canada West scoring with 21 points. Valentino is tied for the team lead in goals with Torrin White with seven and leads the Pronghorns in assists with 14.
Garret Hughson continues his strong play in the Pronghorns crease and even though he was on the losing side of both games last weekend, he sits second in the conference in save percentage at 0.926. He also holds a 3.04 goals-against average.
While the Huskies have scored the second most goals in Canada West, they only have two players in the top ten in Canada West scoring but have 12 players with at least 10 points this season.
Carson Stadnyk leads the Huskies and sits second on the Canada West scoring list with 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points. Kohl Bauml sits second on the Huskies with 20 points.
In the crease, Taran Kozun has carried the bulk of the load this season, making 16 appearances and holding a 2.09 goals-against average and a 0.915 save percentage.
