Pronghorns head east for playoff push in Manitoba

LETHBRIDGE - Entering the crucial part of their season, the Pronghorns Men's Hockey team heads to the University of Manitoba for a weekend set. The Pronghorns currently sit six points up on the Bisons for the final playoff spot with just six games to go.
 
Friday night action begins at 6:00 p.m. MST, with the Saturday rematch slated for 1:00 p.m. MST. Catch both games live on www.canadawest.tv
 
A look at both teams
 
The Pronghorns (7-13-2) are looking to rebound from a tough stretch that has seen them on a four game losing streak. With six games remaining in the regular season, the Pronghorns look to take a major step towards solidifying their first playoff appearance in six years. 
 
The Bisons (4-16-2) split their previous weekend versus the Regina Cougars with a victory Friday night, 5-2. The following afternoon saw the Cougars explode offensively with a 6-3 final. The Bisons are on the Pronghorns tails for the final playoff spot and will be continuing their pursuit with games following against UBC and Saskatchewan.
 
Earlier this season in Lethbridge, the Pronghorns swept the Bisons, beating Manitoba 4-1 and 6-3.
 
Players to watch
 
Justin Valentino and Torrin White look to continue their strong offensive seasons against the Bisons. Valentino leads the Pronghorns with 23 points in 22 games. Whereas, White is tied for the team lead in goals with Valentino and is average a point per game pace after experiencing early season injury problems.
 
The Pronghorns have been led in net by Garrett Hughson and his 7 wins this season. Hughson has built a 3.33 goals against average for the Pronghorns coinciding with a .918 save percentage.
 
On the Bisons side, they are led by Nick Zajac and Zach Franko offensively. Zajac leads the team in assists (11) and points (15), while Franko is leading the team in goals (8).
 
In net the Bisons have been counting on the performance of Byron Spriggs as he has suited up in 19 games this season posting 3 wins and 13 losses, while maintaining a .890 save percentage.
