A look at the teams:
Â
Sitting a 2-4, the Lethbridge Pronghorns are looking to string together four solid performances heading into the semester break and build off a come from behind win in their last outing.
Â
Down as many as 11 points to the Manitoba Bisons, the Pronghorns rallied for a much needed 84-79 win over the Bisons. The night before the Pronghorns suffered a narrow 101-99 loss.
Â
Statistically, the Pronghorns still rank among the most potent offences in the conference, sitting third in team scoring, averaging 89.2 points per game, but the Pronghorns have had their struggles on the defensive end. Through six games the Pronghorns have allowed a conference high 94.3 points per game but held the Bisons to a season low 79 points last Saturday.
Â
Six of the Pronghorns' 10 players are averaging double digits in points per game, with third-year forward Chad Oviatt leading the charge with 17.2 points per game. Colton Gibb sits second with 14.8 points per game with Jeff Rodehutskors, Keanu Funa, Scott Mazutinec and Brett Warren chipping in with 12.8, 11.5 and 10.3 points respectively.
senior guard Kyle Peterson leads the conference in assists, averaging 6 assists per game.
Â
The Cascades (2-2) have had an up-and-down start to the Canada West season. After being swept by the Winnipeg Wesmen during the opening weekend and a bye the second weekend, the Cascades got in the win column last weekend, sweeping the UBCO Heat at home.
Â
Through four conference games, the Cascades are ranked seventh in both team offence and defence, scoring 83.3 points per game, while allowing 76.3 points against, but both of their opponents this season rank near the bottom of conference in scoring.
Â
The bulk of Fraser Valley's offence has come from two players thus far. Parm Bains and Sukhjot Bains are the lone Cascades to average double digits in points through four games. Parm Bains leads the way with 21.3 points per game and Sukhjot is hitting for 17.5 points per night.
