Pronghorns look to get on track in Brandon

LETHBRIDGE – After opening the season with two losses last weekend to the U SPORTS fifth ranked Alberta Golden Bears, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team hits the road looking for a rebound weekend in Brandon versus the Brandon Bobcats.
 
The Pronghorns will take on the Bobcats Friday night at 8:00 pm and Saturday night at 7:00 pm, both Central time. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
 
A look at the teams:
 
Debuting at #10 in the U SPORTS rankings, the Pronghorns (0-2) drew a tough opening season match in the Golden Bears but hope that a trip on the road with be the right remedy to get back on track.
 
Statistically in the first weekend, the Pronghorns averaged 84.5 points, to place them seventh in the conference but sit 15th in team defense averaging 98 points per game. One area the Pronghorns will need to clean up if they are to be successful is turnovers. Through the first weekend of action, the Pronghorns sit 15th in Canada West and average 18.5 turnovers in two games.
 
A bright spot last weekend for the 'Horns last weekend was the return of Scott Mazutinec from his LDS mission. Coming off the bench, Mazutinec averaged 19 points and hit on 45.8% from behind the arc.
 
Colton Gibb and Jeff Rodehustkors sit tied for second in team scoring, averaging 13 points per game.
 
On the road to start the season, the Bobcats (0-2) were swept by the Saskatchewan Huskies. Friday night, the Huskies came out on top 94-81 and completed the sweep with a 87-75 win.
 
Haashim Wallace leads the Bobcats offence, averaging 21 points per game, while Dennis Dominique sits in second with 16 points per contest.
