Pronghorns host Dinos in top 10 clash

LETHBRIDGE – Coming off a bye week, the Lethbridge Pronghorns kick off the busiest stretch of the conference schedule with the 2019 home opener, hosting the Calgary Dinos in a battle of nationally ranked teams Saturday evening.
 
Moving up to #9 in the country this week in the U SPORTS top 10,  the Pronghorns will look to take down the #8 ranked team and defending Canada West Champion Dinos, kick-off is slated for 7:00pm Saturday night, the game will also be streamed on www.canadawest.tv, presented by CO-OP.
 
A season ago, the Pronghorns were the lone Canada West team to hand the Dinos a loss, beating the Dinos 23-15 in Lethbridge. The Dinos won the first match up of the season in Calgary 41-17.
 
A Look at the Teams
 
Two weekends ago, the Pronghorns (1-0) opened the season in style with a convincing 27-0 win over the Alberta Pandas in Edmonton, to take the first leg of the Suggitt Cup
 
Sydney De La Mare paced the Pronghorns with two tries, while Savanna Collison, Abby Duguid and Hailey Driscoll each added singles and the team's defensive structure was able keep the Pandas off balance all game.
 
The Dinos (2-1) already have three games under their belt and currently sit in tops in Canada West with 10 points.
 
Opening season with a trip to the West Coast, the Dinos started with a close 22-14 win over the UBC Thunderbirds before dropping a razor thin decision, 18-17 to the Victoria Vikes.
 
Last weekend, the Dinos were involved in another close game, coming out on top over the Alberta Pandas, 19-12.
 
Cassidy Jones leads the Dinos' attack with three tries in two games.
 
The Pronghorns and Dinos will face each other again during the last weekend of the regular season in Calgary.
 
Up Next
 
The Pronghorns will head out on their annual West Coast trip next weekend, facing the Victoria Vikes next Friday and the UBC Thunderbirds two days later.
