Looking to rebound, Pronghorns head to West Coast

LETHBRIDGE – Facing the busiest stretch of the Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's rugby team hits the road, traveling to the West Coast to face the Victoria Vikes and UBC Thunderbirds.
 
The Pronghorns face the Vikes Friday at 5:00 pm and will then take on the Thunderbirds in Vancouver Sunday at 1:00 PM, both start times are Pacific Time.
 
A look at the teams
 
This past weekend, the Pronghorns were beaten by the defending Canada West Champion Calgary Dinos, 27-17. Following the loss the Pronghorns dropped to #10 in the U SPORTS Top 10 ranking.
 
The Pronghorns opened the season with a 27-0 win over the Alberta Pandas in Edmonton.
 
Hailey Driscoll, with two tries versus the Dinos, leads the team in scoring with three tries and her 15 points thus far ties her for fifth in Canada West scoring.
 
Friday's opponent, the Victoria Vikes (3-0) have been perfect thus far and handed the Pandas a 31-5 loss in their last action. The Vikes also beat Calgary (18-17) and UBC (36-34). The Vikes are the top Canada West team in the U SPORTS Top 10 rankings.
 
Statistically, the Vikes are led by Madison Aberg and Paige Farries. Aberg sits second in Canada West scoring with two tries, two penalty goals and seven converts for 30 points, while Paige Farries leads the Vikes with four tries.
 
The Vikes were the Canada West silver medalist a season ago and went on to finish fifth at the U SPORTS Championships.
 
The Thunderbirds (1-2) also enter this weekend's match up coming off a win, handily beating the Pandas last week, 63-0.
 
Prior to their first win of the season, the T-Birds suffered two close losses. The Dinos clipped the T-Birds 22-14 during the opening weekend of the season and last weekend lost to Victoria 36-34.
 
Shoshanah Seumanutafa leads the Thunderbirds and all Canada West in scoring with 36 points in three games. She has counted for four tries and eight converts.

The Pronghorns return home next weekend to host the Alberta Pandas next Saturday in the second leg of the Suggitt Cup.
