LETHBRIDGE – Heading into a crucial stretch of games, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team vies to return to the win column in a home-and-home set with the Mount Royal Cougars.

The two game set begins Thursday night in Calgary with tip-off slated to follow the women's game at 8:00pm. The rematch is Saturday night in Lethbridge at the 1st Choice Savings Centre at 7:00pm. Both games will be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

The Pronghorns are 6-2 versus the Cougars since 2012 but split the home-and-home series last year with each team winning on the road.

A look at the teams:

Despite playing the now second-ranked and two-time defending Canada West Champion Calgary Dinos tough last weekend the Pronghorns (4-8) dropped two close games. Currently, the Pronghorns hold down the final playoff spot in Canada West.

Statistically, the Pronghorns are ranked seventh in team offence averaging 87.4 points per game and sit 14th defensively at 84.2 points against, but held the Dinos to only 86 points last Saturday.

The Pronghorns still have one of the most balanced offensive attacks in Canada West with six players averaging double digits in points. Colton Gibb leads the team with 14.4 points per game. Gibb also leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 per game.

Senior guard Kyle Peterson is averaging 12.2 points and ranks second in Canada West in assists per game with 5.3.

After opening the season with three straight wins, the Cougars (3-9) have lost their last nine games and were swept at home last weekend by the Manitoba Bisons.

In 12 games this season, the Cougars hold the 11th ranked team offence in the conference scoring 82.4 points per game and are ranked 16th in team defence, allowing 95.6 points against per game.

Guard Matthew Guinto leads the Cougars attack with 16.7 points per game, while Lincoln Anderson and Adam Pahl sit second and third with 11.5 and 11.4 points per game respectively.
