Entering this week's match-up the Pronghorns are 7-0 all-time versus the Griffins and swept their series in Lethbridge a year ago.
A look at the teams
Entering the final two weekends of conference play, the Pronghorns (6-10) need a single win to official secure a post-season berth and still have the ability to host the play-in game if they win their final four games. With the conference reseeding the top 12 by RPI for playoffs there are still a variety of scenarios that could come to fruition.
Still a high powered offence, the Pronghorns sit fourth in conference scoring with 89.6 points per game but rank 14
th defensively, allowing 93.2 points against.
Propelled by a balanced attack, the Pronghorns have six players averaging double digits in points. Chad Oviatt leads the team with 15 points per game, while Colton Gibb is second at 13.8 points per.
Senior guard Kyle Peterson sits second in Canada West in assists per game at 5.6 and is moving up the Pronghorn and Canada West all-time lists. Peterson, who played two years with the Victoria Vikes prior to joining the Pronghorns is currently ninth on the Canada West list and with 13 assists in his final four games would crack the top five.
Despite only playing three seasons with the Pronghorns, Peterson is third on the Pronghorns all-time list with 305 assists.
Still in search of their first win of the season, the MacEwan Griffins (0-16) are in a year of transition. Former Pronghorn bench boss Mike Connolly took over the Griffins program this past off season. Connolly spent seven seasons as the Pronghorns head coach from 2002 to 2009.
The Griffins rank near the bottom in both team offence and defence, sitting 13
th defensively (92.1 ppg) and 13
th offensively (72.6 ppg).
Forward Abdullah Shittu leads the Griffins in scoring with 13.2 points per game, while Deonte Doslov-Doctor sits second at 12.6 points per game.
