Pronghorns welcome #4 ranked Huskies for a pair

LETHBRIDGE – Coming off a disappointing start to 2020, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's hockey team returns home to host the U SPORTS fourth ranked Saskatchewan Huskies at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
 
The Pronghorns and Huskies will hit the ice at Nicholas Sheran at 7:00pm both Friday and Saturday night. Both games will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.org.
 
Earlier this season in Saskatoon, the Huskies swept the two game set with wins of 8-3 and 5-0.
 
A look at the teams:
 
Opening the second semester of action last weekend on the road, the Pronghorns (5-12-1) dropped both games in Regina to the Cougars are now sit one point behind the UBC Thunderbirds for the final playoff spot in the conference.
 
With 10 games to play in the regular season, the 'Horns are ranked sixth in goals for with 41 but are eighth in goals against, allowing 79 against.
 
Freshman Luke Coleman continues to have a stellar first season with the Pronghorns and leads the team with seven goals and 12 points through 18 games.
 
Goaltender Taz Burman has played the third most minutes (768:20) and has faced the most shots (562) in Canada West. He holds a 4.30 goals-against average and a 0.902 save percentage.
 
The Huskies (12-4-2) come to Lethbridge off a weekend split with the Alberta Golden Bears, winning the second game in deciding fashion, 5-0. The Bears opened the weekend set with a 3-0 blanking of the Huskies.
 
Statistically, the Huskies are the second stingiest team in the conference, allowing only 42 goals against in 18 games. Offensively, the Huskies sit fourth with 60 goals scored.
 
Third-year forward Colin Shirley leads the Huskies in scoring and sits sixth in conference scoring with five goals and 12 assists, while freshman Jared Dmytriw is second in Canada West rookie scoring with six goals and nine assists.
 
In the crease, Taren Kozun has seen action in 15 of 18 conference games and holds a 2.22 goals-against average and a 0.918 save percentage.

For the second week in a row, the Pronghorns will face a nationally ranked team, travelling to Edmonton to face the #2 and defending Canada West Champion Alberta Golden Bears.
