LETHBRIDGE – With four straight wins, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team looks to close out the conference schedule on a high note and potentially secure a home playoff date hosting the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at the 1
st Choice Savings Centre.
The Pronghorns and WolfPack will square off Friday night at 8:00 pm and Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Both games will also be streamed live on
www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.
Saturday night will also mark senior night and the men's basketball team will honour graduating players Kyle Peterson and Keanu Funa prior to tip-off.
A look at the teams:
Following consecutive sweeps over provincial opponents in the Mount Royal Cougars and MacEwan Griffins, the Pronghorns (8-10) clinched a playoff spot but with a pair of wins this weekend a home playoff game is possible. With the conference reseeding the top 12 by RPI for playoffs there are still a variety of scenarios that could come to fruition.
Heading into the final weekend of conference play, the Pronghorns hold the fourth ranked offence in Canada West averaging 89 points per game and sit 13
th defensively allowing 90.2 points per game, but held the Griffins to only 56 points last Saturday.
Senior guard Kyle Peterson moved in to the top five on the Canada West all-time assist record books last week, and will end his career as one of the best point guards to play in Canada West. He enters the weekend with 462 total assists split between two years at University of Victoria and three with the Pronghorns. He will also finish his career third on the Pronghorn all-time list for career assists.
Chad Oviatt leads the Pronghorns in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 15.6 points and 7.4 rebounds a game.
The WolfPack (11-7) have been heading in the opposite direction, losers of four straight and were swept last weekend at home by the Fraser Valley Cascades.
Offensively, TRU is ranked 10
th (82.8ppg), but hold the fourth best team defence only allowing 75.6 points against a game.
The fifth-year duo of Anton Bilous and Joe Davis do the bulk of the damage offensively for the WolfPack, averaging 16.8 and 16.3 points per game respectively.

The Pronghorns know that they will be playing next weekend in the single game play-in playoff games it is just matter of where and against who. With two wins and no major upsets elsewhere in Canada West, the Pronghorns would host Winnipeg next Friday night.
