SASKATOON – Wrapping up a two game swing through Saskatchewan, the Lethbridge Pronghorns were not able to rebound from a loss the previous day in Regina, suffering a 5-0 loss to the playoff bound Saskatchewan Huskies.
The loss drops the Pronghorns record to 0-8-2 with only two weekends of conference action remaining. The win for the Huskies was the team's fourth in a row and improves their record to 6-2-3.
Yesterday in Regina, the Pronghorns were shutout 4-0 by the Regina Cougars.
Cheyenne Lehmann, Maire Kilcher, Naleya Kobussen, Alyssa D'Agnone and Hailey Weber scored for the Huskies in the win.
It did not take long after kick-off for the Huskies to find their groove – Cheyenne Lehmann found the back of the net just 13 minutes into the game. This was Lehmann's fourth score of the season to carry on a stellar rookie campaign.
The Huskies continued to lay on the pressure as Marie Kilcher, out of Evan Hardy Collegiate, worked into the box. Kilcher was fouled leading to a penalty kick and made no mistake firing the ball home to extend the lead to two.
Less than 10 minutes later, Naleya Kobussen found the back of net for the second day in a row. This sent the Pronghorns into the second half trailing by 3.
The Huskies continued to have chances but struggled to capitalize until the 76th minute – Alyssa D'Agnone put up her 7th of the season and yanked game out of reach after Lethbridge had held the Dogs in check early in the half.
Fourth-year Saskatoon product, Hailey Weber, finished the day off for the Huskies scoring in the 86th minute.
Nadia Kalyar got the start in net once again for the Dogs. Kalyar made one save and posted a second consecutive clean sheet. Erin Gill, making her second consecutive start for the Pronghorns, made 11 saves in the loss.
The Pronghorns will be on the road again next weekend, traveling to Edmonton to face the Alberta Pandas and MacEwan Griffins. The following weekend, the Pronghorns will wrap up the 2022 season at home, hosting the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg.
