LETHBRIDGE – Making up the games postponed from the first weekend in February, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's basketball team will head north to Edmonton to face the MacEwan Griffins in the final games of the Canada West regular season.

The Pronghorns and Griffins will hit the hardwood Thursday night at 6:00 pm and Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm. Catch all the action on www.canadawest.tv, presented by Co-op.

During the first semester of conference play, the Pronghorns swept the Griffins in Lethbridge winning games by the scores of 106-64 and 87-50.

A look at the teams

With two losses last weekend to the undefeated Alberta Golden Bears, the Pronghorns dropped to 6-8 on the season and are one game behind the Mount Royal Cougars for third place in the division. However, two wins in Edmonton this week will give the Pronghorns third place and more importantly a bye in the first round of the Canada West tournament.

Entering the final weekend of conference play the Pronghorns sit ranked seventh defensively in Canada West, allowing 76.1 points per game, while holding the 10th ranked offence with 78.1 points per game.

Relying on a balanced attack this season, the Pronghorns have five players averaging double digits in points this season. Angelo Mbituyimana leads the team with 12.6 points per game. De'Andrae Pierre, Jeff Rodehutskors, Chad Oviatt and Moreau Darlington average 12.3, 11.5. 10.3 and 10.1 respectively.

It has been a tough year up north the MacEwan Griffins (0-14), who enter their final weekend after being swept by Mount Royal last weekend.

As the record would lead one to believe, the Griffins are ranked last in both team offence and defense this year, scoring only 62.4 point per game, while allowing a conference high 93.5 points against.

Luke Harold and Mason Hunter are the only Griffins allowing double digits in points this season with 11 and 10.9 points per game respectively.
