CALGARY – The Pronghorns fought to a hard-earned 0-0 draw against the University of Calgary Dinos on Sunday afternoon at Dinosaur Field, with Armaan Thawer making three crucial saves to secure the point.
After a weekend of back-to-back games, the Pronghorns sit in second place in the Prairie Division with two points, following a pair of scoreless draws. Despite the lack of goals, the Horns' defence has remained resilient, frustrating their opponents and providing a solid foundation to build on as the season progresses.
The Dinos controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Horns 6-1, but the defense held strong, ensuring the game stayed level at halftime. The second half saw a shift in momentum as the Pronghorns pushed forward, generating 12 shots after the break. Karim Bey and Cole Rosenlund both came close to breaking the deadlock, but the Dinos' goalkeeper was able to deny their efforts.
In a game marked by its physicality, with 28 fouls and nine yellow cards shared between the teams, the Horns matched Calgary's intensity and stood firm in the face of a late free-kick attempt that was expertly punched over the net by Thawer.
Next up, the Pronghorns return to home turf at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium, where they will face the MacEwan Griffins on Friday, August 30, at 4:30 p.m.
