Box Score 3 It was a full slate of action for Pronghorn Athletics over the October 17–19 weekend, highlighted by men's soccer closing out the regular season with a decisive win, women's rugby earning fourth place in the conference, and women's soccer wrapping up their final road trip of the campaign.
Women's Rugby
The Pronghorns wrapped up their 2025 Canada West season with a pair of hard-fought matches.
Lethbridge opened the weekend on Friday with a 50–21 loss to the UBC Thunderbirds. After falling behind early, the 'Horns showed resilience with tries from Emily Stewart and a pair from Mackenzie Hutten, but the defending conference champions proved too strong down the stretch.
Two days later, the Pronghorns battled Alberta in the bronze medal game in Edmonton, falling just short in a 15–12 final. Lethbridge led 12–3 late in the first half behind tries from Zina Umeh and Ainsley Maxwell, but the Pandas rallied before halftime and held firm defensively in the second frame. Despite the narrow defeat, the Pronghorns' balanced attack and defensive effort capped a strong season that saw the group remain competitive throughout conference play.
Men's Soccer
It was a productive home weekend for the Pronghorns men's soccer team, who earned four points from their final two regular season matches at Community Stadium.
On Friday, Lethbridge played to a 1–1 draw against the MacEwan Griffins. After conceding the opening goal in the 63rd minute, the Pronghorns equalized through Nicholas Bilodeau, who converted a cross from Will Hughes in the 79th minute. Goalkeeper Tegan Romaine made three key saves to preserve the point in an evenly matched contest.
The 'Horns closed out the regular season in winning fashion on Sunday, shutting out the Alberta Golden Bears 1–0. Jose Castaneda scored his first goal of the season in the 71st minute, again assisted by Hughes, to secure the victory. Romaine earned the clean sheet with two saves as the Pronghorns controlled possession and finished with a 9–4 shot advantage. The win lifted Lethbridge to a 5-3-6 record, capping one of the program's strongest regular seasons in recent years as they await confirmation of their Canada West playoff matchup.
Women's Soccer
On the road in Winnipeg, the Pronghorns women's soccer team faced a tough Manitoba Bisons side in a weekend doubleheader.
Saturday's matchup saw the Bisons take a 3–0 win, with goalkeeper Heidi Andres recording seven saves for Lethbridge in a busy outing.
Sunday's rematch featured a high-scoring contest as Manitoba prevailed 6–2. The Pronghorns showed offensive spark in the first half, with Bronwyn Pittman and Chiara Duenser each scoring to bring Lethbridge within one at halftime. Despite the strong push, Manitoba pulled away late to complete the weekend sweep.
The pair of matches concluded the season for a young Pronghorns squad that showed growth and competitiveness throughout the campaign, building valuable experience against veteran opponents.
