Box Score POST GAME
LETHBRIDGE – After a tightly contested game on Friday night, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns faced off against the University of Victoria Vikes for round two at the 1st Choice Savings Centre. Victoria, led by the sharpshooting Geoffery James, who had 22 points and went 5-for-6 from beyond the arc in Friday's win, was looking to close out the series with another strong performance. The Horns had their own standout efforts in Friday's game, with Jack Henry Fox-Grey posting a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Shae Gibb contributing 18 points and disrupting the Vikes on both ends of the floor. Despite their efforts, Victoria's efficient offense and depth proved too much for the Pronghorns, as the Vikes sealed the win. With the top-ranked team in the country proving their mettle, the Pronghorns will be disappointed to leave the weekend without a win, but there were plenty of positive takeaways in their fight against a powerhouse team.

Q1
  • Sam Maillet of the Vikes made two tough back-to-back baskets despite strong defensive pressure from Karter Fry. Both shot contests knocked Maillet to the floor, but he still managed to finish, setting the tone for a highly physical game early on.
  • The game became a battle of attrition with heavy rebounding, steals, and frequent fouls disrupting the flow. Both teams were grinding it out in the paint and on the perimeter.
  • As the clock ran out, Shae Gibb spun and scored a teardrop basket to keep the Horns close, but the Vikes held a 20-12 lead after one quarter.
Q2
  • Karter Fry drained a key 3-pointer off a feed from Bryce Solis, cutting the Vikes' lead to just 3 points early in the second frame.
  • Kymani Pollard drove hard to the basket, getting fouled but finishing his layup to convert the and-one play, giving the Pronghorns their first lead of the game.
  • A steal by Lu Dalil sparked a fast break, leading to a layup by Angelo Mbituyimana to keep the game tight. The physicality continued to define the matchup, with both teams going toe-to-toe.
  • At the break, the Vikes led 34-32, but the Horns had shown their ability to fight back.
Q3
  • Victoria found their rhythm in the third, orchestrating a series of successful offensive possessions led by Geoffery James and Ethan Boag. The Vikes' offense clicked, and they slowly began to build their lead.
  • Angelo Mbituyimana drove to the hoop while being fouled, converting a 3-point play to keep the Horns in the game. Despite the Pronghorns' best efforts, the Vikes' depth and execution were starting to overwhelm them.
  • By the end of the third quarter, the Vikes had expanded their lead to 13 points, leading 59-46.
Q4
  • Renoldo Robinson of the Vikes hit a stunning fadeaway 3-pointer with two defenders in his face, demonstrating his impressive athleticism despite the home crowd's frustration.
  • Bryce Solis answered with a big 3-pointer, set up by a crafty offensive rebound from Shae Gibb. The shot got the crowd energized as the Horns tried to make a late push.
  • With time winding down, the Vikes maintained control, and despite a spirited effort from Lethbridge, Victoria closed out the game, taking both contests this weekend.
  • Final Score: University of Victoria Vikes 83 - University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 67
