Track
The weekend began on the track and in the field, where the Pronghorns throws group continued to assert itself as one of the strongest units in Canada West. In the women's weight throw, Jinaye Shomachuk delivered a historic performance, recording the longest throw in Pronghorns history by more than a metre. Her winning mark places her first in both Canada West and U SPORTS, cementing her position as one of the top throwers in the country. The Horns continued to pile up top-five finishes in the event, with Kate Johnson placing fourth and maintaining her third-place standing in the Canada West rankings.
Momentum carried over into the women's shot put, where rookie Brooke Bentley claimed first place in impressive fashion. Bentley's performance moved her into second in Canada West and fourth nationally, highlighting a breakout season for the first-year Pronghorn. Shomachuk added another podium finish with a second-place result, while rookie Zalita Knoetze rounded out the Horns' top-five presence with a fifth-place finish, continuing the Pronghorns' dominance in the throws.
Speed and precision were on display on the track, led by Kimoya Edwards in the women's 60-metre hurdles. Edwards dominated the field with a personal-best time of 8.46, a performance that vaulted her into third place in both Canada West and U SPORTS. Her run was one of the highlights of the weekend, showcasing both consistency and growth as the postseason approaches.
In the jumps, Lauchlan Irish led the men's side with a strong showing in the triple jump, finishing second with a mark of 15.19 metres. The performance places him second in Canada West and third nationally. Irish also contributed a fourth-place finish in the long jump, adding to a productive weekend for the Pronghorns jump crew.
