LETHBRIDGE – The Pronghorns take a 2-1 decision over the Huskies, with Xander McIntyre scoring the eventual winner.
The Pronghorns' strong home defence continued, as neither side created many chances in the first half, leaving the game scoreless at the break.
The Pronghorns opened the scoring when Xander McIntyre drove a low cross into the box that the Huskies were unable to clear. The ball bounced out to Pronghorns captain Ben Gingras, who made no mistake, driving it past Jaron Slopinski for his second goal of the season.
The Pronghorns continued to press and eventually doubled their lead, courtesy of McIntyre. A great ball in behind from Joel Jaravata allowed McIntyre to drive at the Huskies' defence before finding the back of the net.
The two-goal lead didn't last long, as the Huskies pushed up the field off the ensuing kickoff. Tomas Elwahab collected a loose ball and cut the deficit to one. The visitors found some life after pulling within a goal, with Aydin Wiebe battling to beat Cornel Safsaf to a ball and forcing a tremendous save from Tegan Romaine.
That wasn't the only save the Pronghorns' starter was called upon to make, as Romaine denied the Huskies once again when Elwahab looked for his second of the game, keeping the Pronghorns in front.
